A fire broke out at a coil factory in Rayerbagh

At least three coil factories have caught fire in the capital’s Rayerbagh. Police said the fire broke out around 1:15 pm on Saturday. Six units of the fire service brought the fire under control in an effort of about two hours. No one was injured in the blaze, police said.

According to Kadamtali police sources, a police patrol team saw smoke billowing from a coil factory on Khanka Sharif Road around 1:15 pm. The matter was immediately reported to the control room of the fire service and two units of the fire service reached the spot and started putting out the fire.

Rashed bin Khalid, on-duty officer of the fire service control room, told Prothom Alo that a total of six units of the fire service are working to control the fire. The fire came under control at around 3.15 pm. However, the cause of the fire was not immediately known, he said.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kadamtali Police Station Praloy Kumar Saha told Prothom Alo that a fire broke out at a factory making three coils at a place on the east side of the police station. At this time 7-8 workers of the factory were able to come out safely. He added that it was initially thought that the raw material for making the coil could catch fire.

Praloy Kumar Saha further said that the fire spread in the factories at the moment as the raw materials of the coils are highly flammable material. The power supply of the area was cut off to avoid the accident. At present the situation in the area is normal, said Praloy Kumar Saha.
