It was reported yesterday that Sergio Aguero will officially announce his retirement next week. He left the field on October 30 due to chest pain in the match against Alaves. It was later revealed that Aguero could no longer play professional football with this heart problem. But the Argentine striker and his club Barcelona did not agree to leave. Barcelona said it had made the decision after at least three months of observation.
But it was reported yesterday that Aguero had decided to retire at the age of 33. Barcelona-based journalist Gerard Romero says the official announcement could come on Monday. After that news, everyone started saying goodbye to Aguero. However, Barcelona’s new coach Xavi has questioned the veracity of the news.
Barcelona took to the field after the news spread last night. Xavi made his debut for Barcelona in the Catalan derby with a 1-0 win over Espanyol. At the end of the match, however, Xavi had to talk about issues outside the match. So much so that the striker’s return to the team, if he retires with just one goal, is a big blow to the team’s supporters.
At the end of the match, Xavi kept the fans hoping for Aguero’s retirement, saying, “I don’t know anything new about Aguero. I talked to him that day. The news that has come out is not true. We will have to wait longer. But we hope he returns and plays football. ”
Aguero’s former teammate Samir Nasri, however, has claimed that his retirement announcement was true. In a conversation with Canalplus, Nasri said that Aguero had sent him text messages informing him of his retirement.
