Whether that Messi is now carrying the dream of AC Milan’s Champions League on his shoulders! The ‘delivery boy’ of a washing machine-fridge is now giving a goal ‘delivery’ to Italian club Milan.

For the first time in his career, he started playing in the Champions League match last night. Atletico Madrid for Milan on the field as a substitute, in the 85th minute. The match then ended in a goalless draw. After 22 minutes, Messias made the difference between the two teams. He put Milan ahead in the 7th minute with a great header.

Milan’s dream of making it to the last 16 of the Champions League was saved by Messi’s goal. Milan are third in Group B with 4 points from 5 matches. Atletico Madrid in fourth place with equal points. Liverpool, which is at the top of 15 points, has already secured the last 16. Porto is in second place with 5 points. One match for all the remaining teams. So in the last match any of the 3 teams at the bottom can go to the next round.

It has come as a surprise to many that AC Milan have kept their hopes alive in the last 16 after losing to Atletico against the current. Even more amazing is the fact that Messias is able to play at the highest level of club football in Europe. Mesias, who immigrated to Italy from Brazil in 2011 in search of a change of fortune, initially worked there as a bricklayer. After that he did the work of washing machine and fridge delivery.

Messias used to play hobby football in between work. The 30-year-old also played in the Italian amateur league Serie D three years ago. He started playing in the amateur league for the first time in 2015 and that was only to fulfill his hobby. In 2016, he signed up for Serie D club Gotsano. Messi was instrumental in getting the team to Serie C that year.

He made his professional league debut in Serie C in September 2016. He scored his first goal in the league three days later, against Piacenza for Queno. He was bought by Serie B club Crotone in 2019. He made his Serie B debut in August of that year. Messi played a key role in bringing the team to Serie A. Then go to AC Milan on loan agreement. All in all, Mesias’s journey seems to defeat the fairy tale!
