India defeated Bhutan 3-0 in the Under-19 Women’s SAF Championship today. Priyanka Devi scored a pair of goals for India at Kamalapur Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium. The other goal was scored by Sumati Kumari.

India went to the top of the points table after winning two matches in a row. India with 6 points, Bangladesh second in goal difference with 4 points in an equal match. Nepal is in the third place with 4 points. Bangladesh will face India in an important match tomorrow.

Bhutan, who had conceded 6 goals to Bangladesh in the previous match, will lose by a big margin against India, it was expected. He seems to have scored less than 3 goals. In fact, before the match against Bangladesh, India coach Ambrose Alex wanted to see the players. Four footballers have played for the first time today at any stage in the Indian jersey.

In the 41st minute, Priyanka made it 2-0 with a great goal from a free-kick. He did not give any chance to the goalkeeper with a strong shot of left foot from about 25 yards. Such goals are not uncommon in girls’ age football in the region.
