They came to Chittagong from Chakaria at night and stole
They got on the bus from Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar late at night. He landed in Chittagong city in the morning. Allegedly looking around to see which house could be stolen. After setting the target, he entered the house concerned, stole it and returned to Chakaria in the morning.
Police came to know about this after arresting three members of the gang on Sunday. The three arrested are Touhidul Islam (18), Chhotan Mia (18) and Saiful Islam (28). All of them live in the middle Konakhali village of Chakaria upazila.
Bayazid Bostami police officer in charge (OC) said. Kamruzzaman told Prothom Alo that Touhidul used to introduce himself as a regional music artist to cover up the theft. Videos of his various ‘stage programs’ have been uploaded on YouTube. So that no one could easily suspect him. Touhidul has admitted to being involved in more than 40 thefts in the city with his associates in the last two years.
OC Kamruzzaman added that two thieves were recently arrested in connection with a burglary at a house in Halishahar in the city. From them, information was obtained from those involved in the theft of mobile phones and laptops from the house of Mahbubur Rahman, a teacher at a private university in Gulbagh residential area of Bayazid Bostami on November 9. Later stolen laptops were also recovered from them. The OC further said that Mahbub had filed a case with the police station accusing the unidentified persons of stealing a laptop and two iPhones from his house.
