A Yemeni man was executed in Saudi Arabia on Monday for plotting a suicide attack and being linked to the Islamic State (IS) militant group. The AFP news agency quoted a Saudi interior ministry as saying.

The Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement that Mohammed al-Saddam, a Yemeni national, had planned to carry out a suicide attack on a gathering of civilians at the behest of IS.

The death sentence was carried out in the capital, Riyadh, on Monday, the statement said.

The statement did not say when or where the man was arrested.

Saudi Arabia ranks first among the world’s top executioners. About 70 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia this year.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was placed in isolation on Sunday and will now have to wait at home for the results of the Covid-19 PCR test.
