Kishoreganj Gurudayal College is situated on the banks of river Narsunda. Anagona of students starts from morning. And in the afternoon, this college campus became a ‘place to hang out’ for the people around. Huge field, bridge under construction, watch tower, open stage, pond built next to the college — all these are places of interest.

The number of teachers in the college is 143 with about 22 thousand students. There are various problems with drainage management, classrooms, libraries, canteens, housing. Principal Md. Jamalur Rahman said he was aware of the problems. Efforts are being made to solve these problems with the help of government.

Md. Passed HSC from this college in 1981. Jamalur Rahman. Once a student of the college, he is now the principal. Naturally, his sincerity towards college is also high. Vice President ANM Mushtaqur Rahman was also a student of this college. He passed HSC from here in 1984.

President’s College
Gurudayal Sarkar was the zamindar of Katair village in Dhanpur union of Itna upazila. This historical school of Kishoreganj was built in 1945 with a grant of Rs. 50,000 given by him. It’s been 6 years. In the last few days, many meritorious students have passed out of this educational institution.

President. Abdul Hamid was a student of this college. Former President Sahabuddin Ahmed also studied at Gurudayal College. In addition, the former Chief Justice. Mozammel Hossain, former minister and army chief Lt. General (Retd) Nuruddin Khan, former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University A Mannan, former Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Alauddin Ahmed, former Vice Chancellor of National University Durgadas Bhattacharya and martyred freedom fighter Md. Sirajul Islam Bir Bikram was a student of this college.

A three-storey academic building of Gurudayal College has been constructed. It is being upgraded from three floors to five floors. The building is named after former meritorious student, President Abdul Hamid. The students are getting the courage to dream big by getting the college principal and vice-principal as ‘alumni’ from the President.

Dreams match wings
Principal Md. Jamalur Rahman said that the college is progressing on the path of progress with the sincere efforts of all including the teachers, officers and employees of the college. This time also about 50 students from this college have got the opportunity to get admission in different government medical colleges of the country. Apart from this, every year a significant number of students who have passed higher secondary from this college are taking place in medical, engineering and other reputed universities. After obtaining undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, many students in the BCS Cadre Service, some in higher research or other jobs, are spreading the reputation of the college by establishing themselves in the private sector.

Shaila Sharmin, a fourth year student of the college’s economics department, said, ‘My favorite campus near the Narsunda river is mine! During the Krishnacura season, flower fires spread throughout the campus. This campus is my place of great love. ‘

Talked to several students of the college including Tayyiba Afroz, Nusrat Jahan, Afzal Ahmed, Tushar Imran, Saiful Islam. They said, ‘Corona epidemic situation did not set foot on campus for about a year and a half. Classes, sitting in the canteen with friends, eating trumpets, chatting, singing, the beauty of the open stage — I have been deprived of everything these days. I was counting the days hoping to get back the beautiful moments of life. Education activities have started after a long year and a half in compliance with the health rules as per the instructions of the government. We are rediscovering ourselves.
