West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who attended an administrative meeting in Nadia on Thursday, once again vented her anger against the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed concern over his one-sided remarks about BSF.
In response to Mamata’s remarks, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said yesterday that Mamata’s remarks on the BSF on state security issues were dangerous to the country’s federal structure and national security.
Addressing the administration and police officials at an administrative meeting in Nadia, Mamata told the BSF, “Always be vigilant in the border areas. Collaborate with legislators. Keep an eye on the border situation. “
This Nadia district shares border with Bangladesh. This border is 165 km from Dhantala-Gangna of Nadia to Karimpur. About 20 km of it is without barbed wire. “You have to keep an eye on those borders,” she said. We have to see to it that the BSF does not go to the area and get involved in anything without your permission. I will never tolerate any kind of oppression of BSF on people.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had warned the people of the state about the BSF by attending a state administrative meeting at Karnajora in Raiganj, North Dinajpur on Tuesday. “It is the responsibility of the state government, not the BSF, to maintain law and order in the state,” he said. Their responsibility is to protect the border. But even though these rules are in force across the state, the BSF is now ignoring their jurisdiction and invading villages in our border areas. Ordinary villagers are being persecuted. ‘
In this situation, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar wrote a letter to the Chief Minister yesterday requesting him to refrain from making such remarks. The governor wrote in the letter, “Your message is dangerous to national security and to the federal structure of India. West Bengal has international borders with Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. The BSF and the National Armed Police Force play a vital role in maintaining national security and preventing illegal activities. So such comments about BSF are not desirable.
