Germany has imposed strict restrictions on travelers from the United Kingdom since midnight on Monday.

According to the rules, travelers must stay in quarantine for two weeks to enter Germany. Also have to show the negative certificate of Covid test.

The Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases in Germany said on Saturday.

Germany has classified the country as a “virus-variant” due to the rise in new types of coronavirus Omicron infection in the United Kingdom.

At a meeting on Saturday, health ministers from various German states called on the Berlin government to designate the UK as a “virus-variant area” and to introduce two-week quarantine rules for all travelers, including those who have been vaccinated.

The ministers said in a statement that “the spread of Omicron in the UK is very strong. We need to stop this spread as much as possible and slow it down as much as possible.”

In the last three days in the UK, a record number of people have been identified as Covid-19. On Friday, the number reached 90,000.

In addition, covid infections have been reported in Germany since October and November. However, the infection has been slowly declining since December. Last Friday, 50.98 people were identified in the country.
