The Punjab Lok Congress will now contest the 2022 elections in alliance with the BJP. After the announcement of the alliance, both the parties have informed that the issue of seat sharing will be discussed later.

Punjab Lok Congress chief Amarinder Singh met Indian Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the BJP’s leader in charge of Punjab state, in New Delhi on Friday. They sat in a seven-point discussion that day. Then the issue of alliance is final.

Regarding the alliance in Punjab, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, “After seven rounds of talks, we have been convinced about the alliance.” Issues like seat sharing will be discussed later. Capt. Amarinder Singh, head of the Punjab Lok Congress, agreed.

The former Punjab chief minister said, “We are ready to fight this election in alliance.” We are confident that we are going to win this election. The decision on seat sharing will be taken on the basis of seat to seat review. We are ready to give 101 percent to win this election.

Earlier, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had met Punjab Lok Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal.

After resigning from the Congress, Amarinder Singh announced last September that he would leave the Congress and form a new party. He was forced to resign as chief minister in a clash with provincial Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Soon after, Amarinder Singh left the Congress and formed a new party.
