Instant messaging app WhatsApp has submitted a new update through Google Play Beta Program. The update brings the version up to 2.20.13 for Android users. The latest version features six new dark solid colors. Colors that have been made available include dark brown, dark olive, black, dark velvet, and dark purple. Users can get the WhatsApp beta updated version if they have enrolled for the Android beta program. All you need to do is download WhatsApp’s latest Android Beta version. Once the downloading is over, just change the theme by selecting the solid dark color in settings. You will find the WhatsApp changing to new dark solid colors.
The Android beta program is now closed for entries. Those who have not enrolled in the program will have to wait till further announcement by the company. But they can still enable the dark mode. Go to the settings menu under Chats and then go to Chat Wallpaper and select Solid Colors. Using the dark mode not only changes the entire look, but it also has many advantages. Using the dark black theme will help users save battery. When the Facebook-owned app rolls out the dark mode feature for all the non-beta users, the new dark solid colors will already be loaded with it.
Besides, it is also useful for people who spend a lot of time on their phones. It reduces light emission and balances the color contrast ratio for readability purposes. There is still no word from the company on when the dark theme will be released for WhatsApp beta for iPhone users and also when it will roll out the stable version on both Android and iOS. Another Facebook-owned social networking service Instagram has already a fully functional dark mode for both Android and iOS users. Facebook, on the other hand, has also planned to roll out the feature for its users. But there has been no confirmation from the company about the same.
