Buriganga River Festival-2021 is going to be held on Saturday. On this occasion, bicycle rally, dinghy competition, mime and children’s drawing competition were held in the capital on Friday. These events were organized by Waterkeepers Bangladesh Consortium and Buriganga River Front to prevent pollution in Buriganga.

As part of the program, a bicycle rally was held at 8:30 am on Friday from Manik Mia Avenue in the capital to Bochila Government Primary School. The rally was inaugurated by Waterkeepers Bangladesh Coordinator and Buriganga Riverkeeper Sharif Jamil.

At the inauguration ceremony, Sharif Jamil said that the rivers must be saved. Bicycles have rallied to save Buriganga. The people of Dhaka must also come forward. The lifeblood of Dhaka Buriganga must be protected from pollution.

The inaugural address of the bicycle rally was welcomed by the Chairman of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Stamford University, Bangladesh. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumdar. He said those who are health conscious ride bicycles. And those who are health conscious, they are environment conscious. Like these environmentally conscious cyclists, everyone must come forward to protect the river Buriganga.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Buriganga River Festival on Saturday, Water Keepers, Buriganga River Morcha and various river bank organizations will hold various programs to protect Buriganga from pollution.
