Hasan Mahmud, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of the Awami League, said that it was the moral responsibility of the media to show the people that Bangladesh was moving forward. The country is moving ahead of India and Pakistan. He thinks it is necessary to inform the people.

The information minister said this while unveiling the wrapper of the book ‘Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujib’ at the meeting room of the Information Ministry on Thursday noon. The book is published by the Department of Mass Communication, a project to strengthen the campaign for the development of rural communities.

The Information Minister said, “If the development and progress of the nation is to be continued, if the country is to reach its dream destination, it is not possible with the frustrated people.” People will be frustrated if bad news is served all the time and development of the nation is not possible with frustrated people. If any negative news has news value, it must be published. But at the same time, it is very important to inform the people about the progress that Bangladesh is making today, leaving behind Pakistan and India.

Regarding the BNP’s comments on the formation of the Election Commission through the dialogue of the President, Hasan Mahmud said, “Last time too, the Election Commission was formed through the dialogue of the President. Mahbub Talukder, who from time to time disagreed with many decisions of the commission and some called him pro-BNP, also got a place as election commissioner through dialogue. That proves that the formation of the Election Commission in this manner was right and the dialogue is effective.

The Information Minister said that the dialogue being held by the President with various political parties for the formation of the Election Commission is being done to consolidate the democratic norms. There are many democracies where such dialogue does not take place before the formation of the Election Commission.

The Information Minister hoped that the BNP would move away from the politics of saying ‘no’ to everything. He said, “If they have any objections, they can take part in the dialogue and tell the President.” This is the democratic tradition. What they are saying on the streets, they can say in the dialogue.

Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud was the chief guest at the ‘Lifestyle and Bridal Industry Awards and Expo 2021-Majestic Affair’ organized by the non-government organization ‘Women Leadership Corporation’ at Dhaka Sheraton Ballroom in Banani this evening.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the country has come a long way today due to the empowerment of women. The empowerment of women in the country is due to the far-sighted thinking of Sheikh Hasina. There is no alternative for women to come forward as entrepreneurs to take the country to the dream address of Bangabandhu.

Maria Mrittik, Nusrat Chowdhury, Parsa Fatema, Nabi Ismail and other women entrepreneurs spoke about their success in the program. On behalf of the organizers, Hasan Mahmud handed over a memento of honor to the entrepreneurs of lifestyle and wedding decoration industry.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud has said that poetry reading and poetry practice plays a big role in building the country in the spirit of liberation war. He also suggested to encourage more poetry.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the poem titled ‘Uchchanthe Uchcharo Aaj Manush Mohiyan’ at Shilpakala Academy in the capital on Wednesday evening. The program was organized by Bangladesh Recitation Artist Parliament. The program was inaugurated by acting and recitation artist Subarna Mustafa.
