China’s Wuhan ranks third on the list of polluted cities, according to air pollution data released by the US Air Quality Index (AQI). The fourth place in the air index is the city of Krasnoyarsk in Russia. Kolkata, another city in India, is in fifth place.
The airborne particulate matter in the air in Lahore on Wednesday afternoon was measured at 37 points. This means that the air quality in Lahore was in the dangerous category then. However, at the end of the day there is some improvement in the air. At 9:15 pm local time that day, the measure of PM was 226 points.
However, this calculation was average. The weather was even worse in some parts of Lahore on Wednesday. On that day, Kot Lakhpat, an industrial area of Lahore, exceeded the PM scale by 450 points. In addition, the city’s Anarkali Bazar, Township and Fatehgarh areas had an air quality index of more than 300 points.
