On Thursday Amazon CEO and founder of Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos, has introduced his company’s first ever lunar lander. The billionaire said he intends to send a spaceship to the moon. Bezos noted Blue Origin would land a small house-sized robotic ship. The space vehicle will have the potential of carrying four rovers. Besides, it will use a newly designed rocket engine and souped-up rockets. Bezos said the vehicle is going to the moon. He added Blue Moon; the lunar lander will make its way towards the celestial body in 2024. According to Bezos, it is a good idea to step on lunar land because it has a weaker gravitational force than Earth.
Various press members and space industry personalities attended the show. The event started with a video revealing Apollo 11 mission; the first time astronauts reached on the surface of the moon. At the time, Bezos said if that does not excite you, then you’re are the wrong event. Blue Origin’s new Blue Moon Lander will have the potential to navigate in space autonomously. It can have a soft landing between 3.6 and 6.5 metric tons of payload on the lunar land. According to Bezos, the company is developing a new engine for the lander, the BE-7. They will test fire the engine for the first time this summer which massively contains printed parts.
Blue Origin is an aerospace manufacturer which started nearly twenty years ago. The company has remained silent regarding its work on rockets, engines and capsules. The company has worked on various space systems at the same time. As per CNBC, Bezos funds more than $1 billion in the company every year through sales of his Amazon shares. Nowadays, the lunar probe has become the centre of attraction. This year in January, China became the first country to land on Moon softly. After that, an Israeli spacecraft, Beresheet, crashed into the lunar surface in an attempt of landing. Till date, the U.S. is the only country to place astronauts on the Moon.
