After nearly two weeks of negotiations, an agreement was reached at the COP28 climate conference in Glasgow. President of this year’s conference Alok Sharma held a press conference on Saturday night on the agreement. There he referred to it as ‘Thunko Vijay’.

Alok Sharma said, ‘Hard work has started now. We have been able to sustain the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. But I’m still saying that the 1.5 degree pulse we’re getting is weak. It will only last if we keep our promises. ”

Alok Sharma added, “History has been made in Glasgow.

The president of the conference added, “I have slept about six hours in the last three days. Collectively and as a team we have achieved this. Many had doubts about this achievement.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson called it a “big step”. “There is still a lot of work to be done,” he added.

India and China have called for last-minute changes to the agreement. They say to use coal to ‘phase down’ instead of ‘phase out’. In the end, it was approved, but many countries were not satisfied. They have expressed dissatisfaction.

There has been a mixed reaction to the Glasgow climate deal. The international environmental group Greenpeace says the agreement aims to maintain a temperature of only 1.5 degrees Celsius.

“This is an important step, but not enough,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The overall goal of the conference was to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and to develop a roadmap to avoid the worst effects of climate change.

Speaking at a press conference on the agreement on coal phase down, Alok Sharma said he was hopeful that the original proposal on coal would remain.

Asked about the heartbreaking stories of poor and island nations and how they are being affected by climate change, Sharma said he understood their frustration with some parts of the agreement.

On the deal, US climate envoy John Kerry said Paris had created the field and the Glasgow race had started from there. The race started on Saturday night.

On coal, Kerry said you need to limit consumption before you can use coal. This time his contract started.

Meanwhile, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg is unhappy with the deal. He tweeted that Cop 26 was over. The summary of this conference is – blah, blah, blah.
